From all the public input I have seen the extension of the rail trail from St. Charles to Chesaning has received overwhelming public support. All surveys show the Saginaw Rail Trail is the most widely used park in the county. Yet, the draft plan has a dog park and a splash park at Haithco as a higher priority than the southern extension proposal. Why is that? Build on the success of your most used facility and extend it, making it available to all citizens of Saginaw County!!

DOG PARK!!!!! You can walk your dog on the rail trail. Please reconsider this decision and it will be best for both people and dogs.

I reviewed the comments in Appendix B, and they were almost ALL in favor of extending the rail trail to Chesnaing. I did not see any on a splash park or dog rec area. How did they jump above the rail trail in the priority list? (a reply would be appreciated)
I know that rail trail supporters have been to every Park & Rec meeting. Have dogs/and or owners made their wishes known at the meetings?
Come on – support the wishes of tax paying citizens – and not the dogs!
Thank you

The rail to trails extension should be a high priority

With diabetes and weight problems nearly at epidemics levels in the US, we should be providing our youth more facilities for exercise. The rails to trails provides summer biking, skating, hiking and winter, xc skiing or snowshoeing. Open all the time to everyone!!!

I have participated in many of the programs in the county parks. I have enrolled children in some programs only to find out that they are cancelled because of lack of interest or on 2 occasions only my grandson attended the class. The Rail Trail has hundreds of people every day. Please put more of the tax payers money into the trail.

The rail trail is a great way for the community to get out and about! It allows all ages from the young to the old to use at their leisure. What an awesome adventure to enjoy in our seasonal state
